Eat right to improve the quality of life

Eating the right food at the right time can be an easy investment to lead a healthy life.

Here’s a useful insight to healthy at work from Chef Mohammed Eliyaz, Chef de Cuisine at JW Marriott Hotel Bengaluru and Reshu Agarwal, Consultant, Internal Medicines, Manipal Hospitals, Whitefield.

Agarwal was quoted saying, “If you start feeling fatigued, irritable and low on energy, even before half the day goes by, you need to have a re-look at what and when you are eating. Some of the numerous benefits of healthy eating habits are increased focus, energy levels and productivity, improved immunity and better digestion.”

People at work should minimize/avoid prolonged sitting, take the stairs whenever possible, use desk stretching, exercises when possible, skipping breakfast, long gap between meals, dehydration.

Eliyaz was quoted saying, “I have seen a lot of people who tend to skip their lunch; whether they are my own colleagues, college students rushing to classes, people trying to lose weight, or employees trying to have the work completed within the time frame. However, this is a bad habit to develop.”

Lunch is an important meal of the day as it helps to restore the blood sugar levels required to get through the rest of the day. Skipping lunch can hamper the mental and physical development of our body. Skipping makes people overeat during and hence lead to putting on extra weight. Skipping meals also lead to gastric issues and discomfort.
